As the economic downturn bites and people look
closely at their careers, Shuttleworth College may answer the
dreams of aspiring Attenboroughs and budding Belamys, whatever
their age or experience.
Students studying Countryside Management at
Shuttleworth College come from a wide background of careers,
including plumbers, IT specialists and those searching for work
after redundancy. They all have one thing in common - they
want to work in the countryside as gamekeepers, foresters,
countryside managers, park rangers or in leisure, ecology or
conservation. Many will start their own businesses in land
management as a result of their studies.
Sarah Russell (Course Manager, Countryside
Management) explained:
“Shuttleworth College offers a wide ranging
course in Countryside Management for those who like the idea of
maintaining landscapes and coasts, as well as ensuring the
preservation of grassland, moorland, heathland, woodland and
wetland habitats.
“The College is set in a stunning conservation
area that includes freshwater, grassland, woodland and
heathland.”
Full and part-time courses are available from 1-3 years and offer
students the chance to gain qualifications and path to a career in
Countryside Management.
