Firefighters from Biggleswade
and Bedford, plus a high rise Aerial Platform were asked to
conduct an unusual rescue at Shuttleworth - a bird from a tree!
No ordinary bird though, this was an eagle
from the Bird of Prey Centre on the Shuttleworth Estate. The tether
worn by the bird had become entangled in a high branch and no one
could reach to rescue the creature.
Aided by the fire marshals from the nearby
Shuttleworth Collection airfield, the Bedfordshire and Luton Fire
and Rescue Service rose to the occasion.
In charge at the scene was BLFRS Station
Commander Guy Munno who said: “This was a very worthwhile rescue of
a beautiful bird and we were only too happy to help.”
